BGF was founded in 1984 and is Australia's oldest HIV/AIDS charity. The organisation provides support to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) across NSW including direct financial and practical assistance, financial counselling, supported housing and employment support. BGF works closely with other HIV/AIDS and mainstream organisations. While BGF has been and remains an organisation which responds to the needs of PLWHA with direct practical support, the recent review of client services has moved the organisation to a way of working which promotes independence and participation. The foundation is attempting to implement a more holistic approach to working with clients rather than just addressing financial needs in isolation from the range of other needs clients may have. Service delivery essentially include:"Practical assistance based on individual needOutreach / links with other service providers."Areas of service provision: financial assistance, NILS (No Interest Loans Scheme), financial counselling, supported housing, Phoenix Workshops."Supported Housing clients continue to have a more comprehensive level of assessment and more intensive service delivery compared to clients receiving general support
