The concluding session of the Eighth International Conference on Penal Abolition, held in Auckland/Aeoterea New Zealand in February 1997, selected Ottawa Canada as the site for the next ICOPA conference, the ninth in a growing movement.

As the global crises in criminal justice and the dysfunction of penal systems grow ever worse, ICOPA IX requires passionate international participation and support.
