The Aboriginal Deaths in Custody Watch Committee is an Indigenous community organisation monitoring the treatment of Aboriginal people in police and justice custody. A main focus of the Watch Committee is to monitor any deaths in custody, including police pursuits, and any breaches of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody Recommendations. Our mandate includes casework for those at risk and extends to juvenile justice detention centres.
The Watch Committee formed in June 1987 following concerns and voices about the rate of Aboriginal deaths in custody, the circumstances about the deaths and the vague explanations offered by police and prison officials.

Prisoners' Action Group (PAG)
PO Box K365 HAYMARKET NSW AUSTRALIA 2000
Phone: c/o Justice Action
Tel: (02) 9281-5100 Fax: (02) 9281-5303
The Prisoners' Action Group is an independent organisation of ex-prisoners who fight for the advancement of prisoners' rights in New South Wales. At the same time as providing support facilities for both prisoners inside the jails and those just released, the P.A.G. attempts to focus public attention on the inequities of the present system using all available means.
We believe that the only effective means of achieving change in the jails can come from a movement organised and run by prisoners and ex-prisoners. We are dedicated to easing the intolerable and brutal burden of prisoners and the eventual abolition of the insitution itself.
P.A.G. was formed in 1973 by ex-prisoners to agitate for change in the New South Wales prison system. Their passion and commitment continues to motivate the formation of numerous groups who work for criminal justice and prison reform, most notably Justice Action.
